On the final day of the Oceania Athletics Championship, Julia Ratcliffe (Waikato) threw 71.39m in the senior women’s hammer to meet the entry standard for the 2019 Doha IAAF World Championships. The Oceania Athletics Championships was Julia’s first competition since her gold medal winning performance at the 2018 Commonwealth Game. It was double gold for Josephine Reeves (Wellington) who secured the gold in the senior women’s high jump with a best jump of 1.86m. Josephine also won gold in the U20 women’s competition on Tuesday.
