2022 Oceania Half Marathon Championships Expressions of Interest Open

We have received information that Oceania Athletics Association has kindly offered to fund one male and one female New Zealand athlete to compete in the Oceania Area Half Marathon Championships (“2022 OHMC”) which is being held in conjunction with the Gold Coast Marathon in Australia on 2-3 July 2022.

OAA have advised that the representative/s shall be the winner of the Federation’s National Half Marathon Championship, or the next best available athlete from that National Half Marathon Championship.

Due to the 2022 NZ Half Marathon Championships occurring after the 2022 OHMC, we have opened up applications to include results from the following (in no particular order);

The winner (or the next best available athlete) of the:

  • The winner of the Christchurch Half Marathon (as part of the ASB Christchurch Marathon) OR
  • The winner of the Rotorua Half Marathon (as part of the Rotorua Marathon); OR
  • The winners of the Auckland, Wellington and Queenstown Half Marathons
  • Alternatively, athletes can submit their performances for Half Marathon competitions within the period of 1 April 2020 to 30 April 2022. These results must appear on the Athletics NZ Rankings Website.

We are yet to receive funding information from Oceania Athletics Association, so the following information is subject to change but we anticipate the below financial information based on previous years circulars:

50% of selected Athletes’ economy class flights (from a NZ major or capital city airport to Gold Coast/Brisbane TBC), shared accommodation and per diem for meals (up to three nights max) will be covered along with ground transport for the period of the Championship. The remaining 50% of the international flights, travel insurance, uniform, domestic flights and any other related costs will be at the athlete’s expense. All travel will be organized by the Oceania Athletics Association.
