2026 World Cross Country Championships Selection Policy Released

Athletics New Zealand is pleased to announce the release of the Selection Policy for the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships (WXC26), set to take place in Tallahassee, Florida, USA, on January 10, 2026.

This marks the first time the World Cross Country Championships will be held in the United States since 1992 in Boston, with New York also hosting in 1984.

Selection Process & Key Dates

Athletes seeking selection must submit an Application for Selection by 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

The Athletics NZ Cross Country Championships in Christchurch on August 2, 2025, will serve as the Compulsory Selection Trial for individual events at WXC26. There will be no Compulsory Selection Trial for the Mixed Relay event.
