Athletics NZ has updated advice previously released on 20 August.
All of New Zealand, except for Auckland and Northland, will move from Alert Level 4 to Alert Level 3 at 11:59pm on Tuesday 31 August. Athletics NZ has produced Community Guidelines for Alert Level 3, which all clubs and centres are encouraged to review.
Auckland and Northland will remain at Alert Level 4 for a currently unspecific period, (likely a further two weeks). Athletics NZ will provide further updates as soon as practical.
In alignment with government advice, no organised Athletics or group trainings are allowed to take place at either Alert Level 3 or Alert Level 4, and those wishing to continue training must do so in alignment with government guidelines, specifically:
- You are allowed to exercise, both at home and in your immediate neighbourhood.
- If you are exercising, it must be solitary, or with those you live with.
- You must try to maintain 2m distance from anyone who is not in your ‘bubble’.
- Do not do activities that may require search and rescue services, for example, do not go swimming, surfing, boating, hunting or tramping.
- If you are unwell, do NOT go outside.
- Remember that public facilities like gyms, playgrounds etc. must be closed.
Athletics NZ is working actively with stakeholders and Local Organising Committees for several key events, and further updates will follow.
Athletics NZ is available to provide advice and guidance to clubs that wish to plan for future activities. The Athletics NZ Planning for Level 2 Club Support Resource booklet contains some good advice for clubs to review and consider.
