Athletics New Zealand High Performance are offering the opportunity to join a development tour to prepare for and compete at the 2023 Australian Open and U20 Track & Field Championships. Please note this is not to the Australian Junior Track & Field Championships (U18).

Tour details:

• Dates: 24th March – 3rd April 2023
• Location will be spread across the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
• Only available to Athletes 16 years and older
• Train and prepare at Gold Coast Performance Centre
• ANZ-HP will offer coaching/management support and on ground transport
• Compete at the 2023 Australian Open and U20 Track & Field Championships

Goals of tour:

• Expose athletes to quality competition at the Australian championships and by watching the Brisbane Track Classic, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet.
• Experience time away from their home environment to develop the skills needed to live with other athletes and coaches of a tour group whilst preparing for competition.

 Cost: 

The estimated cost of the tour will be ~$1500.

What is provided:

• 5 nights’ accommodation at the Treasure Island Holiday Resort on the Gold Coast
• 5 nights’ accommodation at the Sunnybank Star Hotel and Apartments in Brisbane
• Ground transport to training and competition in Australia, airport shuttles at designated times
• Coaching and management support throughout tour
• Physio support throughout tour
• Access to all facilities at the Gold Coast Performance Centre
• Travel Insurance for period of tour in Australia
• Tickets to watch the Brisbane Track Classic

What is not provided: 

• Food (staying at self-catering accommodation, other food options available)
• Flights (you will need to arrange your own flights)
• Australian championship competition entry cost (up to individual to enter)

Spaces are limited on this tour! Priority will be given to Performance Development Squad members and then if there are extra spaces available you will be notified if your expression of interest is successful by 7 February 2023.
