Connections Conference and AGM update

The New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) will host the 2022 Connections Conference

The Athletics NZ Connections Conference and AGM will be held on Saturday 3 September at the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport in Upper Hutt, Wellington. The conference will run from 10am-4.10pm with the AGM starting at 4.30pm.

Attendance is free to all clubs affiliated for 2022/23; all affiliated clubs are encouraged to send a delegate(s) to both the conference and AGM.  If your club is not currently affiliated, you will need to affiliate in advance to vote at the AGM and the deadline for this is Tuesday 5 July.

The list of clubs affiliated for 2022/23 can be found here:

Both the AGM and conference had to be staged online last year due to the pandemic and its restrictions, so this is an exciting opportunity for our athletics communities to come together once again. Athletics NZ Chief Executive Pete Pfitzinger said: “The AGM, Connections Conference and NZ Road Champs will be a highlight for the year. We are really looking forward to everyone getting together at the NZ Campus of Innovation and Sport on 3-4 September.”

The Connections Conference is an opportunity for clubs to connect with Athletics NZ staff and centres annually, share best practice and apply the learnings to their athletics communities. The purpose of the conference is to ‘Connect, Learn and Enable’. More here.

The 2022 New Zealand Road Championships will follow on Sunday 4 September at the same venue, making for an action-packed weekend not to be missed.

Athletics New Zealand Competitions Manager Jason Cameron said: “The New Zealand Road Championships course around the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) promises to provide some action-packed racing. The course will comprise an approximately 1.25km loop around the developing new campus site that will soon be the home away from home for high performance athletes, including the Wellington Phoenix and Wellington Rugby Union. We are excited that the competing athletes in the road champs will also be able to experience some of the state-of-the-art recovery facilities after their race”.
