Connections Conference webinar sessions confirmed

The 2021 Athletics NZ Connections Conference will now be run as a series of webinars due to Covid-19 restrictions. The webinars are a great opportunity for clubs, centres, partners, stakeholders and Athletics New Zealand staff to ‘connect, learn and enable’ their athletics clubs and communities.

The theme for the webinars is ‘Great Experiences in Athletics’ incorporating a range of panellists to lead some important conversations.

Key topics for discussion will still include:

Thursday 4 Nov @ 7pm – Distance Running – ‘Providing great experiences for the distance running community’ Facilitated by Athletics NZ Community Manager Hamish Meacheam, this forum will explore what our members are doing to grow participation in distance running in their clubs.

Thursday 11 Nov @ 7pm – Inclusion & Diversity – ‘How do we attract and retain more people in our sport?’ Facilitated by Stuart Savage, Athletics NZ Club Development Lead, this panel will explore how to encourage new members and retain our current ones by sharing good examples of inclusivity and diversity in Athletics clubs and our communities.

Thursday 18 Nov @ 7pm – The Teenage Question – ‘How do we retain more teenagers in the sport?’ Facilitated by Fiona Maisey, Athletics NZ Youth Lead, we will engage with our panel of experts to explore the key issues around teenage dropout and focus on solutions for retention of youth in our sport.

Thursday 25 Nov @ 7pm – Officials – ‘Effective recruitment and retention of officials in Athletics’ Facilitated by Trevor Spittle, Athletics NZ Officials Development Manager, this panel will discuss the wide range of people involved in officiating, the various ways to become involved, while sharing case studies and stories of officiating in Athletics.
