Doha Bound: Four Kiwis set for Diamond League

Kiwi’s Hamish Kerr, Eliza McCartney, Imogen Ayris, and Zoe Hobbs are booked in for this Saturday’s Diamond League as the world’s top athletics series continues its 2025 tour, making its third stop in Doha, Qatar on 17 May (NZT).
Eliza McCartney and Imogen Ayris will start in the women’s pole vault. Marking Eliza’s first competition since the 2025 Jennian Homes NZ Track and Field Championships. A quality lineup awaits the pole vault duo, including 2024 Olympic Silver medallist Katie Moon (USA), 5m jumper Sandi Morris (USA), 2025 World Indoor Silver Medallist Tina Sutej (SLO) and European indoor champion Molly Caudery (GBR).
In the men’s high jump, Hamish Kerr, New Zealand’s Olympic gold medallist, will challenge local hero and Mutaz Barshim (QAT). A Paris jump-off rematch is also on the menu for Kerr with Olympic silver medallist Shelby McEwen (USA) set to compete.
Sprinter Zoe Hobbs will line up in the women’s 100m, her first race of her international season. She will compete against a stellar field, including Jamaican legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Tia Clayton (JAM), Mujinga Kambundji (SUI), and Patrizia Van Der Weken (LUX).
