In alignment with our Coach Development Plan 2020-2028, Athletics NZ aims “to grow the Person, the Passion and the Profession” of coaching. We achieve this through delivering a mix of formal and information education and development opportunities.
Our informal education and development opportunities range from beginning courses like “Speed 101”, through to opportunities for performance coaches to learn from the best in the world.
Please check back in soon for more information about upcoming Coach Development Opportunities. Be sure to sign up as a Community Coach or Accredited Coach to ensure you don’t miss out on future opportunities.
Event Group Plans
Annually, Event Group Plans (EGP) are developed to support the ongoing growth of athletes and coaches within athletics.
The objective is to cater for specific event group initiatives with a ‘whole of sport’ lens catering for the needs of development and performance level athletes and coaches.
Long-term athlete and coach development drives many of the EGP initiatives, as does growing collaborative, unified communities of practice.
Note: Due to the nature of some EGP initiatives, there will be some activities that will cater specifically to HP programme athletes and coaches.
Para Athletics Integration
Para athletics is integrated into all that we do and across all operational areas. Para athlete and coach initiatives are included across all event groups with the exception of a few specific initiatives.
Drug Free Sport New Zealand
Athletics NZ is committed to the advancement of clean sport that rejects cheating through the use of performance enhancing drugs and methods.
Athletics NZ has adopted the New Zealand Sports anti-doping rules, and as such all member coaches of Athletics NZ are required to abide by these rules. Drug Free Sport NZ is the lead agency for clean sport in NZ and provides free online and in person education for Athletics NZ coaches and administrators.
