Athletics New Zealand is excited to announce an initial round of conditional selections for the 2025 FISU World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr Germany!

The conditionally selected team listed below is set to travel as part of the first athletics contingent to attend the World University Games since Napoli in 2019.

The initial conditional selections are listed below and the full team will be announced in the Final Selection Announcement by Tuesday 3 June.

Lex Revell-Lewis (200m and 400m)
Tommy Te Puni (200m and 400m)
Liam Back (5,000m)
Toby Gualter (5,000m and 10,000m)
Shay Veitch (Long Jump)
Ethan Olivier (Triple Jump)
Welre Olivier (Triple Jump)
Nick Palmer (Shot Put)
Anthony Barmes (Hammer Throw)

Conditionally Selected Women:
Marielle Venida (100m and 200m)
Maddie Wilson (Heptathlon and High Jump)
Kaia Tupu-South (Shot Put)
Eva Pringle (5,000m)
Hannah Adye (Pole Vault)

Please note:
– All selections are conditional and subject to FISU approval of each individual’s academic status.
– The men’s 800m, women’s 400m, and women’s 1500m and any potential relay team announcements have been postponed due to overseas based athletes still attempting to gain eligibility for selection. Athletes impacted by these postponements have been contacted directly.
