The 2022 New Zealand Marathon Championships will not now feature as part of the Christchurch Marathon on 10 April following a decision to cancel the event.

The popular race in the Garden City was cancelled due to Covid-19 red light traffic light traffic restrictions.

With no indication as to when the current restrictions will end it was decided to cancel the 2022 event. The 2023 edition of the Christchurch Marathon will take place on 16 April.

Discussions are currently ongoing on rescheduling the 2022 New Zealand Marathon Championships. We will update with more information as soon as we can.
