2024 was a standout year for Kiwi triple jumper, Ethan Olivier. 2024 saw him fly over 17m to claim the World U20 title in Lima, Peru. Weeks earlier, he also made his Olympic debut in Paris. The New Zealand record holder continues to build on some remarkable early career successes as he makes his third Diamond League appearance this week at the Bislett Games in Oslo, facing one of the strongest triple jump fields assembled in 2025.

Olivier has been stacking performances through the season, with early marks of 16.52 in Xiamen in April and 16.70 in Shanghai in May. His recent jumps in Europe saw him deliver a season’s best of 16.84. Landing him in third at the Continental Tour Silver meet in Rovereto, Italy, on the second of June.

Olivier will be facing some serious competition on Thursday night. Lining up in Oslo is Pedro Pichardo (POR), the 2020 Olympic champion and 2024 Olympic silver medalist who boasts a monstrous best of 18.08m. Joining Pichardo is Hugues Fabrice Zango (BUR), the reigning world champion, who has flown out to 17.15m this season. Russell Robinson (USA) has the leading season’s best with a 17.30 PB.

Olivier will be jumping at 6:41 AM NZT on Friday, 13 June. You can tune in live to watch the Oslo Diamond League on the Diamond League YouTube Channel.
