Parisian Pole Vault – Paris Diamond League Preview
The Paris Diamond League sees the world’s top athletes return to the city that hosted the unforgettable 2024 Olympic Games. While the Meeting de Paris won’t unfold inside the grand Stade de France, Paris’s Charléty Stadium is still a favourite among fans and athletes. For Imogen Ayris and Olivia McTaggart, it’s a special return to the city of lights, both made the Olympic pole vault final here last year and now get the chance to soar once more in the French capital.

Ayris, fresh off a 4.61m outdoor PB in Turku, will look to keep her upward trajectory going as she lines up alongside McTaggart, who has been consistently over 4.50m this season. Both Kiwis will relish testing themselves in a stacked field headlined by former World and Olympic champion Katie Moon (USA), Sandi Morris (USA), and Switzerland’s Angelica Moser.
Strong European contenders Roberta Bruni (ITA), Tina Šutej (SLO), Amálie Švábíková (CZE), and France’s own Marie-Julie Bonnin add depth, while rising stars like Gabriela Leon (USA) and Margot Chevrier (FRA) will look to impress at home. With big heights and Paris magic in the air, the Kiwi pair have another chance to shine on one of athletics’ great stages.
Kiwi fans can watch the Paris Diamond League live on YouTube. The women’s pole vault kicks off at 6:01 AM on the 21st of June NZT.
