Tokyo 2020 | Athletics NZ Fan Guide

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games officially began on Friday 23 July, with the athletics programme starting this coming Friday, 30 July.

Thirteen athletes will represent New Zealand across ten disciplines (shot put, hammer throw, high jump, 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m, marathon, 50km race walk).

Dame Valerie Adams and Nick Willis will compete in their fifth Olympics, while Julia Ratcliffe, Lauren Bruce, Maddi Wesche, Hamish Kerr, Camille Buscomb, Malcolm Hicks and Sam Tanner will make their Games debuts.

Tom Walsh and Jacko Gill make up two of four shot putters who will don the black singlet inside the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, while Quentin Rew and Zane Robertson, along with Malcolm Hicks, quest for Olympic success will take place in Sapporo, over 1000km north of Tokyo.
