Pre-Olympic Shot Put Series, AUT Millennium Stadium, North Shore – 10 July 2021
Jacko Gill impressed with a personal best throw of 21.55m, three weeks out from the qualifying rounds of the shot put at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The 26-year-old added 3 centimetres to his previous best at the International Track Meet in Christchurch in February. His series was 21.55, 20.90, x, 20.72, 19.69, 20.87.
National javelin throw champion Anton Schroder from Taieri was second in the shot put comp with 11.57m and Michael Mitchell, silver medallist in the national javelin championship, also from Taieri, was third with 10.02m.
Liam Ngchok-Wulf was out to 15.54m with the 6kg shot.
Ben Tuimaseve F37 of Papakura, who will represent New Zealand at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, extended the 5kg shot out to 13.63m, 2cm off his New Zealand Para Athlete record set in March at the same venue.
