Spring Open Meeting, Newtown Park – 22 October 2022

National 200m champion in 2021 and bronze medallist this year, 21-year-old Cody Wilson made the most of excellent conditions for sprinting. In his season opening run he clocked 10.84 +0.4 over 100m ahead of recently crowned Wellington Secondary Schools champion and club mate from Mana AC Tyrone Trego 10.96 PB, and Ben Lambert 11.27. Wilson came back just over a half hour later to run a personal best 21.10 +1.6 200m. This time eclipsed his previous best of 21.21 set at the 2020 nationals in Christchurch and now ranks him 22nd on the New Zealand all-time list. Trego was second in 22.29 and Lambert third in 22.48 both personal bests.

Wellington’s Anna Thomson almost mirrored her season opener of 12.34m last year in the women’s triple jump leaping out to 12.33m -0.1.

In distance races, national 10km, half-marathon and marathon champion Hannah Miller recorded 9:45.32 in the 3000m.
