Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya broke his own world record running 2:01:09 (Half 59:51). Tigist Assefa of Ethiopia was the first woman in the third fastest time in history by a woman of 2:15:37 (Half 1:08:13).

Obituary
Frankton Athletic and Harrier Club Life Member Marcia Petley MNZM of Hamilton died on 22 September 2022 aged 93.
Marcia was heavily involved with masters athletics, having served on the board of New Zealand masters from 1994 and represented New Zealand at the world masters congress.
She has been a competitor at masters athletics championships since 1980 and won medals at world masters and Oceania masters championships.
At the age of 90 Marcia won four medals from the 2019 World Masters Indoor Athletics Championships in Torun, Poland, winning gold in the 60m sprint, the 200m run, the weight throw and the hammer throw. Marcia holds many New Zealand Masters records over 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m, Hammer and Weight Throw, plus NZMA Indoor Records for W90 over 60m, 200m and Weight Throw. In the 2015 Queen’s Birthday honours she was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to athletics.
Stalwart of athletics in Wellington Alan Singer died on 22 September 2022. He was Patron and a Life Member of the Kiwi Athletic Club.
