Jumping events in New Zealand (Long, Triple and High Jump) has rapidly gained momentum and quickly becoming one of the most anticipated Event Groups to follow during the 2024 Olympic Games and beyond. The increase of athletes achieving international standards has been developed through innovative programs and camps; athlete selection in High Performance programs; coach development; athlete/coach engagement and collaboration; plus, many community-based initiatives.
High-Performance coach Terry Lomax has been instrumental as the Event Group Lead. Terry’s vision to blend both music and competition (Rhythm and Jumps and Jumps to Music) has captured the attention of many jumpers across the country and is an integral part of the events calendar for Athletics New Zealand. It is initiatives like this that help create excitement, interest in the events plus have a carnival type atmosphere that engages those that attend.
