Sprints, Hurdles, & Relays Event Group Plan

Sprint, Hurdle and Relay events in New Zealand has exploded onto the world scene in recent years with an impressive 9 athletes (5 Able-bodied and 4 Para) having gained conditional selection for this year’s World Championships and 12 athletes (8 Able-bodied and 4 Para) selected into PDS and Regional Pathway programs. The increase of athletes having achieved these selections has been nurtured through innovative programs and camps; athlete selection in High Performance programs; coach development; athlete/coach engagement and collaboration; plus, many community-based initiatives.

The Event Group Lead will guide the implementation of the Event Group Initiatives while working closely with the Event Group Co-ordinator, who will oversee each initiative and offer platforms for athletes/coaches to provide feedback after each initiative is implemented.
