Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Athletics New Zealand’s role is to encourage, enhance and promote all aspects of Athletics in New Zealand and each week thousands of people take part in Athletics New Zealand initiatives. From pre-schoolers to school aged children in school and club based activities, to teenagers, adults and masters across a wide range of events and opportunities at the regional, national and international level of competition.

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator provides support for marketing and communications, particularly around events and competitions, but also across all Athletics NZ digital platforms. This role is critical to the successful marketing of Athletics New Zealand’s national events and competitions programme to attract wider athlete participation, increase spectator and supporter numbers, and grow Athletics NZ’s profile, community recognition and sponsorship.

Key Duties include:

  • Providing marketing and communications support for all athletics events (national and international)
  • Coordinate and drive the delivery of digital marketing and communications to our stakeholders and members.
  • Sponsorship delivery and activations at Athletics NZ’s major events, including Colgate Games, Jennian Homes New Zealand Track & Field Championships, Sir Graeme Douglas International, and the Rotorua Marathon.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for marketing and communications, and experience in digital marketing, including website management, social media, and email platforms. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills are required, as well as being self-motivated, positive and organised, and have a passion for sport.   Equally important is the ability to manage a diverse range of internal and external relationships with key stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in marketing, social media management and communications, with an understanding of the sports sector would be an advantage.

Reporting to the Commercial and Marketing Manager, this role will be based at Athletics New Zealand’s national office in Rosedale, Auckland.
