Whippets team of Ronan Codyre, Connor Melton, William Little, David Lee, Jack Paine and Russell Green set a race record of 23:53 in winning the senior men’s 6 x 1500m relay. Hill City University were second in 25:43 and Leith third in 27:30. Otago University had held the record of 24:13 since 1971.
Oli Chignell of Hill City Univ ran the fastest lap of 3:55. Paine clocked 3:56 and Codyre 3:58.
The Hill City University team of Rebekah Greene, Erin McKevitt, Rebecca Allnutt and Zara Geddes won the women’s 4 x 1500m relay in 19:47 from Caversham 21:16 and Leith 22:48. Greene with 4:32 broke her own 2013 lap record of 4:34.

OBITUARY
Long standing Auckland official and administrator Peter Booker died on Wednesday 26 April 2023 aged 77.
He has officiated since 1989, including children’s Trans-Tasman, Colgate Games, 1994 Oceania Championships and he served as chairman of the 2017 World Masters Games. He chaired the LOC when the New Zealand Track & Field Championships were held in Auckland. He was Auckland team manager to four New Zealand championships and managed the Auckland combined events team to the national championships for six years. He chaired the Auckland track and field committee for 20 years and served on the Board of Athletics Auckland. He was a track umpire and an official at the marathon and walks at the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games.
He was innovative, always looking at new ideas or equipment to improve the delivery of the sport. He developed a coaching DVD, new electronic field indicator boards and organised the construction of a new hammer cage for Mt Smart. He received the Manukau City Council service to sport award in 2000 and the Counties Manukau service to sport award in 2000 and 2012. In 2013 he received an Athletics Auckland and Athletics NZ merit award and was made a Life Member in 2013.
A memorial service for Peter will be held on Friday 5th May at 1pm in the John Walker Lounge, Mt Smart Stadium.
