A world-class high jump conference featuring two of Australia’s leading coaches is set to take place in Christchurch later this year from 11-13 December.
Directly following the 2023 New Zealand Secondary School Track, Field and Road Championships at Nga Puni Wai the event is the brainchild of Athletics NZ jumps and combined events coach Terry Lomax – coach to Commonwealth high jump champion Hamish Kerr.
The three-day conference, which features a series of workshops and presentations including everything from strength and conditioning, technical and nutritional input and is an opportunity not to be missed.
Among the heavyweight keynote speakers include former Athletics Australia Coach of the Year Alex Stewart, who guided Eleanor Patterson to the 2022 world high jump title and Brandon Starc to the 2018 Commonwealth crown and Matt Horsnell, coach of Australia’s Olympic high jump silver medallist Nicola Olyslagers. Terry Lomax will also appear as a keynote speaker across the conference staged at the Apollo Projects Centre and Christchurch Boys’ High School.
Athletics NZ Event Groups Project Coordinator Kim Mickle said: “The high jump conference is an incredible opportunity to learn from world renowned coaches and is not to be missed. We are firstly opening up spaces for interested coaches and athletes in New Zealand, so I would urge any interested parties to lock their spot for this hugely exciting event.”
