2023 Connections Conference, AGM and Road Champs update

The Sport & Rugby Institute, Massey University in Palmerston North will play host to the 2023 Athletics NZ Connections Conference and 136th AGM.

The 2023 Athletics NZ Connections Conference and 136th AGM will be held on Saturday 9 September at the Sport & Rugby Institute, Massey University, Palmerston North. The conference will run from 10am-4pm with the AGM starting shortly afterwards.

Attendance is free to all clubs affiliated for 2023/24. Clubs are encouraged to send a delegate(s) to both the conference and the AGM. If your club is not currently affiliated, you will need to affiliate in advance to vote at the AGM. Athletics NZ Club Development Lead Stu Savage added, “The Connections Conference is a great opportunity for clubs to ‘Connect, Learn and Enable’. It consists of a range of exciting presentations and workshops covering hot topics in our sport. A key feature is always the numerous networking opportunities, which we know people love. This affords the chance to link in with Athletics NZ staff, board members, other clubs’, and centres to discuss all things Athletics. We really enjoy bringing everyone together from the Athletics community to connect in and share their experiences while providing opportunities to upskill.”

The 2023 New Zealand Road Race Championships will follow on Sunday 10 September making for an action-packed weekend in the Manawatu.

Athletics NZ Competitions Manager Jason Cameron said: “This year the NZ Road Race Championships will race around Massey University campus in Palmerston North. The racing commences early morning with the walking races followed by the running races. The course will utilise the ring road circumnavigating the campus, with a central start/finish area, and grassed areas for team tents and food trucks making for a festival atmosphere. Entries will open in early July.”
