Athletics NZ and Puma enter new partnership

Athletics NZ has agreed a partnership with Puma as their new kit supplier.

Global sports brand PUMA will be the official kit partner of Athletics New Zealand as of January 2023.

As PUMA aims to further its position in the running space in New Zealand, the partnership will see New Zealand’s top athletes wearing high-performance and high-tech gear as they compete on the domestic and world stage.

“As a leading sports brand, we are continuously searching for opportunities that enable us to support top sporting talent and this partnership with Athletics New Zealand will help us to demonstrate this,” says Pancho Gutstein, General Manager, PUMA Oceania.  “We are really excited to be a part of the Athletics NZ team and are looking forward to supporting them in the years ahead, both on and off the track.”

The PUMA kit will be worn by all Athletics New Zealand athletes at world events and will be the competition wear at the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Commonwealth Games. This partnership builds on PUMA’s investment in Athletics in New Zealand, with current individual sponsorships in place for athletes including emerging middle-distance star Sam Tanner, the Commonwealth Games 1500m finalist and the second fastest New Zealand 1500m runner all-time

Pete Pfitzinger CE at Athletics NZ said: “We are delighted to be joining the PUMA stable in this exciting new partnership. The company has long been regarded as a world-class brand and we look forward to playing our part in enhancing that brand.”

To further support the athletes and to embed its position in running culture, PUMA will be on the ground at major events supporting its athletes and giving the local community product trial opportunities.
