Get Set Go in the Bay of Plenty

Last week our Foundation Programmes Manager Steph Biggs travelled to Tauranga, Whakatane and Rotorua to observe and support Get Set Go in action. Athletics NZ’s Get Set Go programme partnered with Sport Bay of Plenty’s Go4it back in 2013 with a purpose of delivering fundamental movement skills through positive experiences. Now the programme is delivered to over 40 primary schools throughout the Bay of Plenty Region.

Not only does the programme develop children’s fundamental movement skills along with their social, emotional and cognitive skills it also develops teachers knowledge, understanding and confidence to continue delivering fun and positive movement opportunities for children. Coaches are also continuously supported and developed to make sure they are meeting the needs of the children and teachers.

“My class and I really enjoy the programme. I have gained so many ideas for activities and how to get children moving more in a fun way.” Room 1 teacher at Maketu Primary School.

Thank you Sport Bay of Plenty for your continued support and delivery of Get Set Go.
