James Mortimer Zoom session one of a number of exciting event group activities planned

James Mortimer, coach to New Zealand sprint sensation Zoe Hobbs, is hosting an exciting free Zoom session to talk about his training methods, technical models and his rise to success as a leading international coach.

The session – which will be held on 28 November at 7pm – is open to anyone who wants to grow their knowledge and understand what it takes to coach athletes at the top level.

A link to the Zoom session will be received via a confirmation email once registered. Register here for this exciting opportunity to learn more from the leading sprints coach, who also guides New Zealand 200m and 400m champions, Georgia Hulls and Rosie Elliott, as well as Commonwealth Games 400m hurdles finalist Portia Bing.

Athletes are coaches across a range of event groups can also now register for a series of inspiring camps and conferences in the coming weeks.

The ‘Stepping Up’ Distance and Walks camp in Tauranga from 23-26 November brings together our New Zealand-based distance runners, walks specialists and their coaches to connect, collaborate and contribute.

A pole vault and throws development camp led by James Steyn (pole vault) and Hayden Hall (throws) post the New Zealand Secondary Schools Track, Field and Road Championships will take place in Christchurch on Dec 11-12. The camp is aimed at athletes 15 years or older, coaches, parents and teachers and anyone interests in learning more about these events and what it takes to be a high performance athlete.

Christchurch will also host a High Performance High Jump Conference from 11-13 December. The not to be missed conference boasts a stellar line-up of presenters led by world-class Aussie coaches Alex Stewart and Matt Horsnell plus a multitude of Athletics NZ and HPSNZ service providers to help impact the success of our high performance athletes.

Athletics NZ Events Groups Project Co-ordinator Kim Mickle said: “Athletes and coaches in a wide range of event groups who want to learn more about their craft have an incredible range of opportunities to expand their knowledge in the coming weeks.
