BAA 5km Road Race, Boston MA, 16 April: Geordie Beamish was second in a New Zealand national record of 13:36. This breaks Matt Baxter’s record of 13:55 set in Phoenix AZ in January. Canadian Charles Philibert-Thiboutot won from fast finishing Beamish in a Canadian record of 13:35. Senbere Teferi of Ethiopia was 20th overall clocking a women’s race record of 14:49.

Boston Marathon, Boston MA, 18 April: New Zealand placings; Chris Hartshorn (50) (Wellington Scottish) 2:37:29 (273, 3rd 50-54), William Tennent 2:46:53 (952), Richard Lavin 2:50:09 (1339). Crescent City Classic 10km Road Race, New Orleans LA, 16 April: Jake Robertson 28:32 (3), Zane Robertson 28:46 (5). Won by Ben True of America in 28:15. Bruktayit Eshetu of Ethiopia was the first woman in 31:34.
