INTERNATIONAL RESULTS
GREAT BRITAIN
Diamond League, London Stadium, London, 20 July:

Hamish Kerr notched up his third Diamond League victory this season winning the high jump clearing 2.30m. He was a clear winner at this height and decided not to continue to 2.33m.
He now adds this latest victory to wins at Monaco and Shanghai.
Kerr said it is always a delight to compete at the London Stadium.
“London is an amazing stadium, we’ve been here a few times now and you always know it’s going to be a special place.
“My jumping is feeling so good at the moment, I felt a little under the weather this morning so that’s why I didn’t push it with the last jump. But overall, I’m really happy with my performance and I know I’m in really good shape going into the Games.
“The crowd is amazing, if anything I was a little bit disappointed that I couldn’t put up more jumps for the crowd because they really would have started responding if we were jumping a little higher than we were. I love London, and always feel like there’s a lot of love in the crowd.”

OBITUARY
Long serving Manawatu athletics official and administrator Alan Adamson of Palmerston North died in Christchurch on Saturday 13 July 2024 aged 77.
He had been a member of the Palmerston North Athletic and Harrier Club since he joined in 1954 aged 7.
He served as president of the Palmerston North club, as well as president and chairman of the Manawatū-Whanganui centre. He was a life member of both organisations and had received a long service award and a merit award from Athletics New Zealand in 2004. He was passionate about promoting young and local athletes, particularly through his athletic column in the Manawatu Standard which he wrote for 14 years.
One of his legacies was his involvement in the all-weather track at Massey University. He was on the Manawatū Community Athletics Track committee from its inception in 2000 until his death.
He was a long standing Athletics New Zealand official officiating at numerous New Zealand and Centre championships. He attended Freyberg High School and was a member of the first XV. He spent his working career in the insurance industry.
Adamson’s memorial service will be at Robert J Cotton Funeral Directors on Main St in Palmerston North at 1pm on Friday August 9.
