Zoe Hobbs improved on her resident and national 100m record* and also claimed the New Zealand allcomers record with a stunning time of 11.15 seconds.

Competing at the Hawke’s Bay Gisborne championships in Hastings Hobbs reduced her time set in Hastings last month of 11.21 and broke Australian Kerry Johnson’s allcomers record of 11.19 set at the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games.

The conditions were perfect with the following wind at 1.4mps just under the allowable 2 metres per second.

Hobbs also had the satisfaction of qualifying for the world indoor championships 60 metres, the world outdoor championships and the Commonwealth Games, where the standard set for all three is 11.15.

“That’s epic, I’m so stoked,” said Hobbs on hearing that she also had the allcomers record.

“Three weeks ago when I was here for the Potts Classic I said that I’d love the come back.”
