Athletics NZ are delighted to signal our intention to send a full team of athletes to compete at the 2024 Oceania Area Championships in Suva, Fiji. The competition is to be held at HFC Bank Stadium from 4-8 June and will include Senior, U18, and Para competitions.

This is an athlete-funded competition and athletes seeking selection should budget accordingly. The trip cost is estimated to be between $3,500 – $5,000.

We are working proactively with the Oceania Athletics Association to confirm our potential team size, and once we have confirmation we will release a selection policy. However, interested athletes are encouraged to complete the Application for Selection Form to indicate their interest. The 2024 Jennian Homes New Zealand Track & Field Championships, due to be held 14-17 March, will act as the compulsory selection trial.

There is no U20 competition, rather U20 athletes will have the ability to apply for selection in the senior competition. Enquiries for the associated Masters competition should be directed to New Zealand Masters Athletics. 

There will be a condensed timeframe for athletes to apply for selection, so please keep an eye on the Athletics NZ website and Social Media for the Application for Selection Form, and Selection Criteria. This information will additionally be sent directly to Athletics NZ Accredited Coach and Community Coach Members.
