2020 Hanmer Distance Camp
The Athletics New Zealand Distance Event Group are hosting its annual Emerging Talent Camp in Hanmer from 7-9 October 2020 (October school holidays). The focus of the camp is Long Term Athlete Development for distance runners and provides an exciting opportunity for senior secondary school students and their coaches to hear from great presenters and train with athletes from different squads.
It is also an opportunity for coaches to share, and learn from each other and the presenters. As a coach of a developing athlete we would encourage you to attend, with your athlete, to maximise the benefits of ongoing learning.
The venue for this year’s camp will be Hanmer Springs Forest Camp and applications are invited from Athletics New Zealand registered athletes aged 15 and over and their coaches to attend. Start time is Wednesday 7 October 2.00pm, finish lunch time Friday 9 October. Estimated cost for accommodation and meals is approximately $180, with support available for ANZ-HP programme athletes and Athletics NZ accredited coaches.
This camp will build on last year’s focus of “fundamentals to consider as a developing athlete”. There will also be a focus on recovery for distance athletes, however this is still subject to change.
Spaces are limited and your application will be conditional upon acceptance. Preference will be given to athletes whose coach will also be attending.
Applications for this camp are now closed. If you have any questions please contact Maria Hassan email@example.com or 0212266874
