‘Connections and Communities’ at the heart of the 2023 Connections Conference
The Sport & Rugby Institute, Massey University in Palmerston North will play host to the 2023 Athletics NZ Connections Conference and 136th AGM.
Registrations are filling up fast for the 2023 Athletics New Zealand Connections Conference and 136th AGM with the theme for this year’s event ‘Connections and Communities.’
Where and when is it? – The Athletics NZ Connections Conference and AGM will be held on Saturday 9 September at The Sport & Rugby Institute (SRI), Massey University, Palmerston North. Conference will be 10am-4pm, AGM starting at 4:15pm.

Who is our keynote speaker? – Conference keynote speaker is Andy Martin, Professor in Sport, and Physical Education at Massey University. Andy’s research focuses on building winning and effective cultures in sports organisations and teams, offering transferable elements, which can be applied at a local sport club. Andy brings with him a wealth of knowledge, research and insights based on numerous key studies and co-authored books – A Will to Win written in 2020 based on the Silver Ferns and Legends in Black which focuses on the All Blacks completed in 2014. What’s on the agenda? – Building an Effective Culture at your Club, Creating Club Performance Environments, Innovation in Distance Running, Youth in Athletics, an opportunity to meet New Athletics NZ CEO – Cam Mitchell, The New Club Capability Framework, Inclusion, Safe Sport, Officials and more!
Why should I attend? – It’s an opportunity to ‘Connect, Learn and Enable’ for yourself, your club, and your community. Clubs, Centres and Athletics NZ appreciate the time to network, share and connect with one another to develop.
What should I expect? – Free entry for affiliated clubs, lunch and refreshments provided, an opportunity to connect with a likeminded athletics community and to top it off…a bag of goodies on arrival!
Attendance is free to all affiliated clubs; all clubs are encouraged to send a delegate(s) to both the conference and AGM. If you would like to send several club delegates, then please register to do so. If your club is not currently affiliated, you will need to affiliate here
