Athletics NZ is pleased to announce that seven Mountain Running athletes and two Trail Running athletes have been selected to represent New Zealand at the 2022 World Mountain and Trail Running championships which are going to be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand on 3-6 November.

The seven Mountain Running athletes are:

Senior Women:
Sarah Douglas from the Queenstown Athletics Club in Queenstown
Jessica Campbell from the Sumner Running Club in Christchurch
Kate Morrison from the Sumner Running Club in Christchurch
Eva Pringle from the University of Canterbury Club in Christchurch

Senior Men:
Toby Batchelor from the Pakuranga Athletic Club in Auckland
Michael Sutton from the Tauranga Ramblers Club in Tauranga

Junior Men:
Benjamin Rickerby from the Auckland City Athletics Club in Auckland

The two Trail Running athletes are:

Senior Women:
Bethany Bromfield from the Owairaka Amateur Athletics and Harrier Club in Auckland

Senior Men:
Ryan Carr from Wakatipu.

Each of the athletes bring with them significant experience and achievements over the Mountain and Trail events, and despite the lack of opportunities to race during the last two years it will be exciting now to see these athletes compete in November.

We wish them all the best for the rest of their preparations in the lead up to the championships, and we are looking forward to seeing what they can do in Thailand.
